Tasks & Remeownders

Below are some helpful reminders regarding Women's Animal Center's volunteer needs and protocols.

Adoptions!

Unless an adoption counselor specifically requests your help with an adoption, please refrain from getting involved. There are often ongoing conversations that volunteers are not privy to that may preclude the clients from specific animals or adopting at all.

Scheduling

We've had a bit of pile up happening lately with scheduling. Part of it is a consequence of having a lot of new people (which is great!), but I think some of it could be avoided with a bit more attention to the schedule. Please be conscious of when other volunteers will be here. If you have some flexibility with your schedule, please sign up for times or roles that have fewer people on the calendar.

Dog walking

Please be sure to pick up after the dogs when you bring them into the yard. Fecal matter has a really high potential to spread disease. Plus, it's gross. There are poop bags attached to the fences and gates in every yard, and there approximately a million in the drawers in the animal kitchen, so there are really no excuses for not cleaning up after the pups!

Cat Enrichment

PLEASE USE GLOVES, everyone! If you're not going to use gloves, WASH YOUR HANDS AFTER EVERY CAT YOU TOUCH. I really can't stress how important this is to the health of our residents.
